Hi Guys -

Need help. I am resident in the US from India and need to submit the PCC.

If I apply from Indian Consulate, it is going to take 10 weeks or more and they will keep my passport. I am travelling to India next month and wondering if I get the PCC from India itself, which is like same day service. Would that work?

Thanks

Yes get from your passport office in India. Generally they issue on the same day.

Thanks..Did you also submitted PCC from India whilst living in the US?

I got in one month time, since I have old passport and police verification report was not available online in the passport office. I got PCC after police verification.

Okay. After browsing previous threads, one of the guy on H1B called CIC about the same issue. They mentioned to get PCC from consulate if you are non-resident. They will not take PCC directly from the country if you are non-resident there. Hope that helps anyone in similar situation.

Actually I got PCC from both Indian Consulate here and Passport office in India.

And which one you submitted?

I submitted both PCC.

Great. How much time it took you to got PCC from consulate?

From BLS Edmonton (Vancouver Consulate), it took around 3 weeks. If police verification report is not available with them online it may take more than 2 months. They will wait until they get police report from India. One of my friend got PCC after 3 months.

This is so pathetic. At NY Indian consulate, they keep your passport until clearance is received. I don't want to give my passport to them for 4-6 weeks. On top, I am traveling to India for 3 weeks so can't give anyways before that.

I am going to get it from India - just in case as a backup if it falls short here in the US.

That is why I applied in India first. If we get PCC on the same day in the passport office, then police report is available online. Then if we apply here, we will get PCC within 2 to 3 weeks time from consulate.

I hear ya! This is helpful. Thanks man.. ;)
