Hi,

I worked as a cook for nearly 2 years. I have the T4s from both year. Every week I worked for more than 30 hours. However, currently I have only few of the paystubs. I guess, during the apartment move, I lost most of the paystubs. Are the paystubs very important?

I was able to receive the Record-Of-Employment. However, it tells only the starting and ending date of my employment. But their no information about my weekly hours. My bank-statements have bi-weekly payroll information(amount) for all the dates.

I went to my Bank, and ask them if they can give me a stamped paper with all my payroll dates and amounts. They said, they do not have anything like that. But, if I go to my online account and prepare an excel sheet with the dates and pay-amounts. They would be able to stamp it.

Any suggestion?

Pay stubs are additional docs (not mandatory) in your CEC application. Just make sure you have a Reference letter with all the required info as mandated in the CIC checklist. If so, you are good even without the pay stubs. Submit latest T4 and NOA (if filed returns recently, submit once you receive it).

Hi Isabox,

Does the letter of reference from your employer mention your weekly hours?

I believe pay stubs are not mandatory documents and can be used to support your case, but your letter of reference must mention this information.

Ask the employer to write an employment letter, which will state: 1) approx number of hours worked per week and wage per hour 2) total number of hours per year - payroll officer will have this info, they track all your hours 3) total amount of money paid to you- they also keep track of this. 4) position title and responsibilities.

Include T4s and copies of a couple of pay stubs. Pay stubs are not mandatory but I'm including a copy of a pay stub for my first week and for my most recent week of employment as one more proof of my start date and that I'm still employed by them. No one is really going to go through all your pay stubs for 2 years even if you submit them- it'd be hell lot of papers.
