Hi all... Ready to pay these 2 first fees, but won't be paying the rest/sending in the US Outland application for a few more weeks. Just wanted to check with you guys, that this will be okay... Because the CIC online payment thing says:

Before using this online service, please ensure that you have:
completed the appropriate application(s) for the service(s) you will be paying
•a valid email address for delivery of the official Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) receipt
•a valid credit card
•Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer (this is required to view and print the official CIC receipt)
•access to a printer

the only fees that are required to pay upfront are the sponsor fee and the principal applicant fee (and any dependant fees). The applications will not process if they are not paid. The right of permanent residency fee does not have to be paid upfront. CIC will request this before finalizing the visa (usually comes with the passport request). I waited to pay my RPRF until it was requested and I didn't see much of a delay. I got my COPR within 2-3 weeks of paying it. I am also from the US.

Thank you... But that wasn't my question. My question was: Is it okay to pay those first 2 fees about 2 months before paying the rest and sending in the application? Because we haven't yet :

•completed the appropriate application(s) for the service(s) you will be paying

^^^ As the CIC online payment thing says...

My [obvious] question is...why?

There's really no reason to pay in advance, unless the applicant is planning a trip to Canada and hopes that the receipt will pacify an over zealous CBSA officer that may have concerns about overstaying their `visit'.

That and... We have this money put together now. When you're as poor as we are, paying for large things in steps becomes kind of necessary, lol. Juuuuust trust me ;D

oh, sorry, yes that is completely fine. they all don't need to be paid at once. we paid the sponsor fee months before we paid the applicant fee and sent in the application to help with border crossings . our package had 2 receipts. no issue at all.
