We are currently stuck on the payment page where we pay our immigration fees. There's a category for "Principal applicant" that we can pay for which I'm presuming is the spouse I'm sponsoring. However there is also another one that says "Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner". Do we need to pay both or am I misunderstanding something because it seems like it's the same thing. If someone could explain, it would be greatly appreciated so we don't spend more than we have to. :)

You will need to pay:
-Sponsorship application ($75)
-Principal applicant ($475)
-Right of Permanent Residence ($490)

For a total of $1040. This is for sponsoring a spouse with no dependent children. You have to pay up the 75+475 upfront. The RPRF ($490) can wait, but it is recommended to pay it upfront if you have the money available to not cause delays down the road.

That fee is for when both the principal applicant AND their spouse are being sponsored, such as parent sponsorship.

We paid only the "Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner" fee. I wonder if it influences our case some way, as the amount is same as the other 2 combined.
