paying fees

I'd like to pay at least some fees now. Or do i have to pay them all in one shot. Is that eventually possible? I'm filing outland but I occasionally head back to the states to visit my folks and pick up my meditation. They keep asking when I am filing and I tell them 'when I get the documents '. Last time I think they were skeptical. I tried to pay the fees online but it sound like I'd have to send it to the visa office I am applying to. How could I do that without possibly confusing them? I have an old UCI given to me on a previous VR. will that help? Just a little confused.

I filed inland, so I don't know nearly as much about outland. I know I paid the $475 and $75 up front, and then paid the $490 RPRF after I received DM and before landing. It did not cause me any problems or delays. HOWEVER, Sweden is a very senior member here, and he (? - I don't actually know Sweden's gender) said that, with outland applications, all fees should be paid up front or you may experience delays. If you are able to do so, I'd say paying the full $1040 up front is definitely wisest. And yes, you can pay online, print the receipts, fill them in, and include them with your application packet. I believe CIC will use your existing UCI.
