We are waiting for our passport/visa to be returned to us from Guatemala. I sent them a prepaid FedEx envelope and they have to return it to us in the US. How long is the turn around time?
I have to buy our plane tickets but I am a little nervous about doing it without our passport in hand.

Dont do it, Wait for the passport with visa.....you don't know when will arrive, so it's better to buy the ticket with your visa ready...

What happens if we get it past the date we have to land? My husband's medicals are up on 6/25 and we plan on traveling the week before. Is it normal for them to send it very close to the medicals?

Hi,

I'm pretty sure if that is the case, they will inform you to redo the tests again if thi visa won't be valid for your convenience, but still you have some amount of time, if everything is going well it may arrive soon, did you pay the RPRF at the begining of the application or did they ask you to pay it? if

good luck

Everything is paid and done. They said they just needed a pre-paid self-addressed envelop sent down.

Do you have a tracking number to check that envelope? Send them an email just make sure they received it....I think is worth it to try ..just to double check....you never know...

Good luck

They did receive it but the tracking number for returning to us has not been used. I think I will send them an e-mail tomorrow to see if they can give me a date that they will be sending to us. FedEx will have it to us in 2 days after it is sent and once it is on its way I can check on it. I find it frustrating since they told us to hurry because his medicals are up by June 25th and all they have to do is put it in the envelope and send it back. Oh well, I am just glad that it was really only 7 months that it took to process.

Hello Javiernica
My husband got passport request in march and for his police certificate we sent out everything on March 28 2011 as well permenant resident fee and no visa yet I got an email from my lawyer stating that she sent an email to the vo in guatemala and it said

Your file has been placed in a queue awaiting assessment by an Immigration Officer. We do not require any additional information from you at this time. We will contact you soon to let you know what the next stage of processing will be.

My question did you ever recieve an email like this and as well is it a problem that I never sent a pre-paid envelope
thanks

We had never emailed them to ask for the status of our file. They had contact us in February to ask for his passport and some additional proof. And then a few weeks ago to tell us a decision had been made and then our lawyer contacted us to notify us my husband's visa was ready and we just needed to send a pre-paid envelop to Guatemala. So, no you should not have sent an envelope yet but I hope they ask for yours soon.
I now have to be patient that they will send his passport back soon. Though they seem to work on a different time table then I do.

Hello Javiernica
I emailed them once cuz as well in feb the sent a letter asking for passport and all those other documents and my lawyer or my self never yet recieved the letter so just emailed them and they sent me an email with what they were requesting, and since in march we sent everything my lawyer decided to send an email on wednesday and thurday they responede very quick and like the email said am in queue and my husband medicals expire in august that why maybe just maybe my husband will get his visa soon :) I hope you get ur passport too cuz damn ur medicals are gonna expire sooner then mine and with getting everything togehter u need some time hope everything works out for u and ur huband
GOOD LUCK
