Passport Validity for Express Entry

Hi

I have received ITA for PR application and in process of collecting the documents. My son's passport is due for expiry in Jan 2021 and renewal will take atleast 2 months.

Can you please advise if i can go ahead with the current passport and then begin the passport renewal process? Give the situation it will take atleast 3 month for me to get the passport back when applied from Canada.
