Hello Forum Members,
I have a close relative who has a some burning immigration questions. Will appreciate if someone has gone through the same stages and be able to share their experiences.
My relative was international student from Pakistan. In Sep 2017, she completed her degree and then also got a job in Government related to her field of studies. She is on the post graduate work permit and has still not applied for PR.
Q1: She is planning for wedding in Pakistan. Post marriage, her passport might need to be replaced due to change of the last name. Whether her new passport need to be stamped with another visa or the visa on the current passport can be used to supplement the new passport for travel back to Canada. In the latter case, both the new and old passport will be required to be carried.
Q2: She is considering to apply for Express Entry after marriage. Her husband is a Pakistani national. Now, she starts thinking whether her case for PR will be strong when she is single or when she is married. Coming April 2019, she will have a full one year Canadian experience related to her degree so she has strong case of PR and she is considering to apply by that time.
Seniors, please share your valuable experiences as this might help her avoid any last minute surprises. Thanks in advance.
