Passport sent!! visa interview info!!

Hello everyone!
My wife is a canadian citizen and we got married in Feb 2011. I am from India. We have sent file to missisauga on 17th and reached on 18th march 2011, they started processing file and apporoved it on 19th april and 29th april they received file at new delhi. On 11th may 2011 they sent me letter and i received on 19th may and they asked for my pcc, landing fee and passport and i sent my passport.
Now my questions are:
1. How long will they take to issue me a visa? The status ecas showing APPLICATION RECEIVED.
2. Why they asked the passport exactly for? What do they do after receving the passport. Is there any chance of interview after I sent my passport.
3. When is the time when interview is scheduled means during which phase the interview is scheduled?

Please help! Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Your best bet is to join the thread where applicants from India are they will have more info for you but I do know that India asks for the passport at the beginning of the process so there might be an interview or they might just give the visa. The average time for them is 6 months as per the cic website, like i said people in the New Delhi thread will have more info

1. Depends on each case, usually 2-3 months since PPR
2. to do BC & Yes you can be called in for an interview
3. 1-2 months in ND

1. It could take anywhere from 2-6 mnths.
For some people the status changes from 'Appplication received' to 'In process' and then 'Decision Made' and for some it changes directly from ' App recvd' to 'Decision Made'

2. Usually they ask for the PP early in the process. They say it's for background checks, no one really knows what they do with it. Yes, it's possible you can hv an interview after the PP is sent.

Also note that sometimes ND asks for additional docs depending on your case ( ie: Proof of continued communication with ur spouse/ divorce jedgement if you were divorced etc)

3. If you are to have an interview they'll most likly schedule it within 1-2 mnths of the file being in ND.

All in all, ND is totally unpredictable and most of the time it depends on ur luck as to how soon u get ur visa. That being said, a lot of people who go through ND get their visa within 3-4 mnths.
