Passport requested, any interview to follow?

I'm in the process of sponsoring my husband to Canada, and we received a letter from the visa office requesting his passport and 2 photos.
What happens after this? Will there be an interview or has it been waived?

No interview will be required at that stage! They will return passport with visa (if it's a western passport the visa will be in the form of additional landing papers). Should be back within 2-3 weeks of you sending it
