Hello all, we were hunkering down for a long wait (Nairobi office) and just 2 months into the process they have asked for my husbands passport (but have not asked for pictures, did not say a decision has been made etc). Anyone out there had a similar experience? Will they just hold on to the passport for the next 22 months (which is the average wait for this office). We are really confused ... please help out if you have any answers! Cheers!

Still no replies .... please please if anyone out there has shared this experience could they send me a note? we are stressing! Cheers

Unfortunately I have no experience with this, but I know that sending a copy of the applicants passport is a requirement with the application (at least for the Buffalo office it is). Is it possible that this was not included with his application? That would be my only guess!

I also don't know what Nairobi does, but through Berlin, if your passport has been requested you are done! Your approval letter comes with the stamped passport.

Thanks for your responses. I am not sure about how fast Buffalo issues visas but Nairobi clearly stated in the letter it was an average of 22 months ... which seems a long time for them to hold on to your passport. I would like to think this is a positive step ... but I am pretty sure that 2 months into the process is way too short for them to request a passport and issue a visa from nairobi. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks so much guys.

is there any way to contact them? I don't think they will keep your passport for so long time. what happens if you need to travel during this period of time?
