Passport renewal

I am facing a difficulty in renewing my passport in Canada.

I had filled the application through BLS International services and sent all the documents by Canada post on 3rd of April 2020

It was showing that the package has already been delivered to there community box on 7th April.



When i checked the BLS website few days later it had a message that all documents had to be sent to the Brampton address but not at Toronto address. So by mistake i sent all these documents to BLS Toronto address due to which my original passport work permit and other confidential documents are stuck in the BLS comminity mail box. BLS is not able to pull my documents from there as they dont have any access to it because of the lockdown.



Then i tried contacting Consular services in Toronto to help. I also requested them considering my situation if they can allow me to apply for Emergency passport and then retrieve my old passport later but i didn’t got any helpful reply. I have been been in touch with both BLS and Consular services for over 2 months now but didn’t got any help to resolve my issue. Now everyone is telling me to wait till lockdown opens up.



Now due to COVID19 I amnot sure how long this lockdown will be inforced but I need a passport to apply for my work permit here in Canada and also for my immigration purposes otherwise my status will become illegal in Canada.



What can I do in this case?

Apply for ur permit with current passport & explain the situation. Send passport copy via webform when you get a new one.

Thanks for the reply. My existing work permit has a remark mentioning “ further extension upon passport renewal" . Now if i apply for work permit extension with my existing old passport credentials will that increase my chances of my work permit refusal ?

Its the best option you have, they might refuse it or hold onto the application for a while or they might not even get to it by the time you receive a new passport.

Anyone applied in June ? its been two weeks now no update on bls and still shows no record found. Any one who applied in may or june can share thier time line?

I got passport police verification back home and it is complicated let see what will happen next

Now the question is would i be still able to travel using my old passport to and fro if in case the passport renewal(planning to do it in tatkal) gets delayed.? I do not have a visa stamped yet(nor booked an appointment for VISA), i am using AVR. Any idea?

You need to travel with whatever passport has the visa in it, if you get a new passport after the visa sticker is stamped then you travel with both passports.
You apply for everything Canadian online so not sure what you mean by appointment.

I need to go for Visa interview, i do have a valid i797 and planning to use AVR. My question is, i will apply for my passport renewal here in USA, would i still be able to travel while my renewal is in process?

Ur posts are really confusing, it seems you are talking about US visa not Canadian?, i797 & AVR are US concerns.
There are generally no interviews for Canadian visa.
Im assuming you have received some sort of permit for Canada? Visa is only a travel doc unless its simple visitor visa.
To travel to Canada you use any valid passport with the Canadian visa in it, they dont care if you are renewing it. There are also various covid restrictions that you should make sure you qualify for one of the exemptions.

My bad. Im really sorry. Forgot to mention that I have a PR in my first post. I am talking about US side entry only.
