Passport renewal for TRV

Guys since the multiple visa for Canada is valid until validity of passport unlike US B1 visa, is it advisable to get the passport renewed before applying for the visa?

If you have an otherwise strong profile, you could receive a visa for the life of your passport. But sometimes people with a weak profile get a one year visa, no matter how long their passport is valid.

The intent of my question was since they would issue the visa maximum to passport validity (which would be less than 10 years), should one go ahead a renew so that can get a visa for the maximum period

The intent of my answer was to say that you can try but you may not always get a visa issued for the maximum period.
