I have a Passport which will expire in january 17,2017 before that I am planning to put the file for express entry. so is it okay or I need to renew again soon ??

Your passport should have at least 2 years of validity when you apply. Get your passport renewed, meanwhile you can submit your Express Entry profile and once you have the new passport, you can update the information in your profile.

Partly correct.

OINP has that requirement not IRCC. IRCC only requires that your passport be valid for at least 6 months at the time of PPR. Given that some applicants may (and do) get their PPR within 6 months of application submission, their passports need not have 2 years of validity at the time of creating their EE profile.
