Passport expiry within 5 months

Hello,
I am in a process of getting PR and have no documents pending at the moment. However, my passport expires in Nov 2022, so I doubt whenever I will receive request for passport stamping, my passport expiry will be less than 6 months.
I am not sure if I should apply for renewal before hand or shall wait. Because, my application has all information of my current passport.
Please suggest what best can be done.

They do not seem to 'enforce' the usual six-months-validity on PR passports - but note, you will have to 'land' before the passport expires. (There can also be complications in other countries if travelling and less than six months - but that's not a Canada thing).

That said: strongly recommend applying for your passport renewal immediately. It is far more convenient to do it now, and not a problem if you are submitting a 'new' passport (perfectly normal).

Whereas we do see cases where PRs wait becuase they expect passport request soon and then it's later and it causes problems with timing etc. Just do it now and get it over with.

I will immediately proceed for renewal, so that there is no more delay for stamping.
And I shall send both the passports, since my application has all the information of my current passport.

You can send both passports if you wish but it won't make any difference - they understand the concept of passports being renewed and do not rely just on the passport number to identify you.

Passport renewal while you are in your home country has another benefit. Your destination in Canada might not have a consulate for you to go in person to have the pasport renewed.
