Hi, I'm from India and I still have one and half year to passport expiry. Is it allowed to apply for reissue anytime or I should wait till it expires ?

You can apply within 3 years to expiry date. So I will say Yes, you can apply for re issuance of passport.

That's incorrect.

You cannot apply to have a new passport/re-issue of a passport more than one year from the expiry date of the current valid passport
