Passport Expiry Query

My current passport is about to expire in a year. It expires in June 2017.

I am yet to begin with my application process. So is it advisable to get the passport renewed first and then begin with the application? Or is it okay of i get it renewed in between the process? I haven't got it renewed before so I am not sure if the passport number gets changed or no. If it does, i an not sure if it could lead to a problem.

It does not matter whether you will renew passport now or when the application being process. In my case, my spouse was renewed passport probably few months prior to received PPR, there was no any issue.
