Passport Expiry Date and PGWP / EE Problems

Hi,

I will graduate soon from my 2 year program in canada and will apply for PGWP of 3 years. However, after calculating time, I will be issued PGWP of only 2 years and 5-6 months due to passport expiry date.

Indian Consulate requires me to renew my passport only when it is within 1 year of expiry date, which is far away.

I have heard cases where PGWP was issued till passport expiry date and there were problems in getting extension of PGWP (remaining time left in 3 years).

What should I do ?

I got an extension with no issues after renewing my passport.

I guess you don't have a lot of options because after graduating I believe you have 90 days to apply for PGWP. When it happened to me almost 3 years ago they first issued my work permit until the expiration date and after I renewed my passport I applied again (you have to pay the fees again) and got it for the remaining time for the 3 years.

Does anyone know if PGWP extension application with new passport should be applied ONLINE or on PAPER?
This link says paper. Can anyone please confirm??
