Passport expiring soon and got passport request

Hello Experts,
My passport is expiring on January, 2018 and i got my passport request on October 19th, 2017 and it was mentioned in the passport request letter that i need to have atleast 6 months passport validity, so i got my passport renewed in a day from the Indian high commission in Toronto. Now my old passport number is different from the new passport number and my PR file has the old passport information and not the new one. How will this effect in my stamping.?

It would not be a problem I assume. Send in both of your passport with an explanation letter. They'll understand for sure.
On a side note you should have updated them with your new passport number as soon as you got it. But fear not, just send both.

Also give CIC a call to confirm and clarify the situation.
