Hi my passport is expiring. There's a local embassy that is open still but the problem is from what I'm reading that they have implemented more strict guidelines for passports since I last renewed in Canada in 2016.
The problem is my name in passport and the name in my birth certificate is different, in the passport I have my Father's name in it as that was required when, as a family, we travelled abroad (we don't have last names). Now they also have changed that requirement and it needs to the same as my birth certificate (without father's name).
Anyways, CiC knows all this, I submitted everything I could (affidavit, birth certificate and an LOE), not any legal name change document since I never changed my name legally, and I was approved for PR.
My question is how closely tied is a passport to PR? Worst case, I get rejected for passport renewal, I go back home, change my name to what I'm using in Canada (with my fathers name) and make new passport. Will Canada still acknowledge my PR?
Thanks..!
