I am applying soon (as soon as I get the CAQ) for a study permit, and I was wondering if I had to submit my passport to the embassy for the duration of processing of my application (Which is approximately 8 weeks in the country where I am residing). I have to travel during this time, so I am a little confused.

Can somebody comment on this ?

Thanks !

If you apply online, you will not require to submit your passport unless embassy request you to do so.

Yes, you can scan the relevant pages and attach it as a document to your online application. If you apply on paper, you can make certified copies of the relevant pages (we made copies of the whole passport) and submit it with a letter of explanation. They will then inform you when they need your passport to put the relevant permit/visa into it.

Greetings silent3y3s,

I was hoping you assist me as well. I am applying online in Jamaica, I want to confirm if whether my scan documents, such as my support documents (financial statements of my brother, father and my own, birth certificates, etc) need to be certified before I scan and upload them to CIC.Or is it only when applying by paper that certified documents are needed if not the original being sent.

Best Regards,
