Passport and Visitor’s Visa validity less than 3 months at time of Departure to Canada

Hi Everyone!!

I am an Indian Passport holder. My passport is getting expired in mid of Oct 2020. I have Canada visitor visa till mid Oct 2020. My question is can I travel to Canada with my current passport and Visa... say in July where I would have left 2.5 month when my Passport and Visa gets expire. My visit would be for 2-3 weeks.

Kindly help in givIng expert opinion/ Answer.

Hi,
Your passport must be valid for 6 months atleast and moreover in this situation it's very difficult to say.

Assuming travel restrictions are lifted, from Canada's perspective, yes, you can travel. Canada does not have a requirement for a passport to have 6 months validity. However, check with the airline, as they may ignore that and not let you travel.

If the airline allows you to travel, expect CBSA to issue you a short stay Visitor Record due to the expiring passport.
