Hi,

I'm from the Philippines, my Philippine passport and Canadian Tourist Visa will expire on November of 2021. I actually have plans to go back to Canada this year but since there will be multiple conflicts with my schedule this year, I'm thinking of reconsidering my travel plans this year...The thing is though, I won't be able to travel by January to June of next year due to incoming workloads, that would mean that I'll only be able to travel by July of next year....which would mean that my passport would only be having a less than 6 months validity...along with my Canadian Visa......Since Philippines follows the 6 month rule of the passport, that would mean that I won't be able to travel with it..... Will it be alright if I renew my passport ahead of the schedule and bring my new passport along with my old passport that has a Canadian tourist Visa with it? Is my visa still valid by then? Will the immigration (both from Philippines and Canada) still consider my less than 6 months Canadian Visa that happens to be on my old passport but I have my new passport with me just without the Canadian Visa?

Thanks,
Josh

You can travel to Canada with an unexpired visa in an expired passport. Bring both your new passport and your old one that has the visa in it.
