I have a part time job in the US to build up more funds for when I move (I already have the minimum funds required so that's not an issue/question). My question is, the place I work has a hub in Vancouver as well. Once I get an ITA and am preparing to move, if the company allowed me, could I do an internal transfer to the Vancouver hub for the same part time position without an LMIA? Or would I have to quit the part time job here in the US and have to reapply up there?

My other thought is that since I'm in the US and would be landing in Vancouver and getting housing arranged before coming back to the US and tying up lose ends (there would be about a month or two gap between landing for the first time and moving permanently). Would it be possible to keep the part time job during this time, and then put in a transfer request after I got the PR status?

I have someone in Vancouver that could check my mail for my PR card, but I am seeking input on if transferring the part time job I have now to Vancouver would in any way cause problems for me legally.

I doubt you would get an ICT (intra company transfer) work permit approved for a part time job. The ICT process has fairly stiff requirements in general and I'm quite certain they would require the job to be full time. I think an LMIA is out of the question for similar reasons.

Are you American? Does your job qualify under NAFTA?

I am American, but haven't looked to see if it would qualify. Somehow I doubt it, and it has no relevance to my primary occupation. My primary thought was that it would just be a little extra income coming in until I started a full-time job related to my degree. I know this company has let employees transfer from this location to Toronto, but I'm not sure the details (if it was part time or full time position). Which led me to the question about requesting a transfer after receiving PR status.

Transfer after receiving PR will be no issues on Canada's end (your company will be one that will need to agree). Transferring before PR is what I suspect would be extremely complicated.
