Hi there people,

I want to inquire the procedure for acquiring parents visa, preferably permanent one.

What are its requirements?

The requirements for bringing your parents permanently are here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/parents.asp

CIC only accepts 5,000 applications per year. The process will re-open again this January.

In order to qualify as a sponsor, you will have to provide Canadian tax returns for the last three years to prove that you meet the minimum income requirements for all three years to sponsor your parents. Also, the income must be from Canadian sources (i.e. from a job in Canada). So if you have recently arrived to Canada or don't meet the minimum income requirements, you will have to wait until you do before you can apply.

Yes you can sponsor your mother, with your wife as co-sponsor. I am assuming you are a PR.

As a PR you can. What you want to do is very similar to what my wife and I did recently. We sponsored my wife's mother. We filed the application about 6 months after my wife arrived in Canada as a PR. She had no work history in Canada. My wife was the sponsor, and I was the co-sponsor. I have many years of work history in Canada.

If you look to the left, you will see the words "VISA ISSUED". This refers to the PR visa recently issued to my mother in law. It can be done.

how long did it take you though? most people say 3 years?

Takes about 3-4 yrs @ first stage in Canada.

Takes about 1-8 years @ stage 2, depending on visa office

It is a VERY VERY VERY LONG process, unfortunately.

4 years, 10 months. I wouldn't expect it to be any faster than this. It is a very long process.

Yes - you can sponsor.

The income and the process are all in the link that was provided in the second post in this thread.

Yes. Like I said, your situation is about the same as ours and we had no problems at all. Nothing unusual about this. It is all well within the rules.

Well,,then i guess the best option is to apply for the sponsorship once it starts in 2015 and apply for a visitors visa or super visa and like that my mother will be able to wait while visiting us here in canada....thank you very much for the answers everyone....

If your parents are from the US also, they don't really need a super visa. They can just come up and stay up to 6 months at a time (and even apply for an extension while in Canada)
