Extremely unlikely that the parents could remain as visitors for 4/5 years for the Immigrant processing, as they can't be processed in Canada.

Right, no inland for parents. You can apply to sponsor and you can apply to extend your parents visit visa but the sponsorship still takes 4-5 years. You might be able to keep your parents in Canada that long if you keep extending and keep proving that you are taking care of your parents needs or they have funds of their own.
