I plan to sponsor my mother and father in 2019. My father’s first name in my passport and all of my other documents is wrong. His name is spelled as Mohammad instead of Muhammad. Any idea how it will effect my sponsorship application for them when I apply in jan 2019? If I have to change it how do I do it? Do I have to it in Canada through some government agency like Service Canada or It has to done in the originating country of Bangladesh and then it can done here?

I found this link about “Any errors you want to fix must have been made by Canadian immigration officials when recording your personal information.” But it does not tell how to change information if I made the mistake.

Any help will be appreciated.

How about his name in your birth certificate? That's the document that's required for the sponsorship.

Just FYI, a lot of people do not have parents' names on their passports.

It has been wrong since my birth and we actually never thought it will be an issue, thus the birth certificate is even wrong, so is my Bangladeshi passport. I do not have my father's name in my Canadian passport, however I am pretty sure Canada government has it in their records and I think that should be changed before I apply.
