Hi,

My parents came to Canada on Immigration in March 2010. They went back to INDIA in the same year end of November 2010.

Few years later, in October 2013 they came to Canada because I insisted them to come to Canada before their Immigration expires. I live in Ottawa, so they lived through the harsh Winter. After seeing this year's harsh winter they realized that they can't live here any more. They are thinking that it's hard to maintain Immigration if they have to stay here in these winters. I have to say that they liked the Summers here. I have only one sibbling. We both are living in Canada.

My parents wants to come and visit us in Summers, might not be every summer but every 2 years.

My question is:
If they let go of their Immigration, can they come as visitors to Canada to visit us in Summers?

Thanks.

Your parents can come on Super visa. This visa is valid for up to 10 years and will let them visit your family in Canada for up to two years without renewing their status. This 2 year period can be reduced to each summer period as they like.

Look for the procedure how to relinquish their PR status, if they are unable to maintain their Residency obligation.

Let your parents stay the summers, they can go away when it gets cold.
That way they can fulfill the 2 yrs residency obligations, not lose healthcare and be canadian pr.

There is no guarantee that the SuperVisa will(always) be issued once parents age goes near 70+ , because when companies refuse to cover their medical insurance......then they will be stuck in India forever......

Let them spend november-march in India, while March to October in Canada each year.........enjoy the best of both countries weather

The parents would have to stay at least 5 summer months per year in order to maintain the 2 year / 5 year obligation. However they may have difficulty in being able to maintain their health coverage as being out 7 months of the year would voids their coverage.

not to mention apply and reside in canada for PR renewal.
