I am 31 years old and i am currently a Macedonian citizen interested in applying for a Canadian Visa. My father has been a Canadian citizen for over 20 years and i am wondering if that would have any effect on my chances of qualifying for a canadian visa/residency.

Yes, it might make it harder to obtain a temporary resident visa, as you have a family tie to Canada, increasing the risk that you may overstay. It might, possibly, improve your points if applying for permanent residence, via a Provincial Nomination.
