Parent Marriage Certificate || parent PR application

Hi All,
I am process of filing documents of Parents PR. Please advise what documents can be used in place of Parents marriage certificate as in 1960 there was no concept of marriage registration.
Can I use my parents passport in which they had been mentioned as spouse of each other? had somebody used this option?
