Hey guys and gals. I am getting a bit overwhelmed with what to apply for and when I should apply for it. I've been in Canada for about two and a half years so far and was granted a 12 month post graduate work visa after completing my Primary Care Pramedic schooling in BC. I worked my ass off for a year and have now begun more schooling for my Advanced Care Paramedic schooling (which I'll get a diploma from).

So here's my questions:
1. I am wanting to apply for the Skilled Worker and Express Entry for my PR but don't know if I should wait until I get my diploma or if I should just use my current certificate from schooling in BC.
2. On my paystubs I get paid pager pay and station pay which translates to my bi-weekly cheques saying I've worked over 250 hrs in that period. Is that something that qualifies for the 1950 hrs within a year? Or do they just accept my station wage? I don't understand...
3. If my girlfriend and I are common law and have been filing taxes together here for the past two years would it be easier and faster for her to sponsor me?

I'll need to start work immediately after finishing my program and the job prospects are huge and needed around Canada. I just don't know what to go after or my chances of making through the express entry (nor have any idea of how long it takes).

Any advise would be most helpful!

Regards,
-Ryan

1.- Never wait to apply for PR if you're eligible for.
But without enough experience I guess you're not eligible yet.

I recommend to create a EE profile ASAP with your actual degree and see what happens, you can update it later.

2.- Work under Student Permit doesn't qualify for CEC, I'm not sure about FSW, probably not.

So you're not eligible for CEC until get 1 year working after obtain tour PGWP.

If you have foreign experience perhaps you can apply as FSW.

Note international students are having difficulties to get enough score for ITA, the government said they're going to change it, but not yet.

3.- If you're living more than 2 years together, paying taxes as common-law and having some other documents under both names (insurances, bank accounts, car, apartment leasing....) your girlfriend can sponsor you if she's already citizen or PR. Is not too faster but you can get a SOWP in the meantime (you don't need it)

Short answer: you'll get PR sooner if your girlfriend sponsors you.

Other option, check PNP opportunities for International Students, perhaps you can apply now based on your diploma.
