Hi everyone ,

(Apologies if this should be in the TRV forum.)

I will soon be returning to Canada for work. I'll file my wife's PR application as soon as possible upon landing and receiving my confirmation of employment letter from my new workplace (in a government agency, if that makes a difference. )

Upon sponsorship approval, I'll be applying for a TRV for my wife. I've heard mostly negative things about our chances here as she is a homemaker without assets but I haven't been able to find too many anecdotes from people with small children.

We have been together for six years, common law until 1.5 years ago when we officially married and have a four year old son.

Our main reason for not overstating a TRV would be to nor want to jeopardize the PR and put our planned future together in Canada at risk. My wife has minimal assets to claim a financial stake in her home country.

I'm wondering if others have been in similar circumstances and able to keep their families together during the PR processing time through a TRV and, if so, any advice would be much appreciated.
