hello ,
i am in Canada on visitor visa right now i had open work permit cause of my wife's study permit . somehow my wife was not able to finish her studies and now i am on visitor visa . I have a lmia job offer for painting job which requires 2 year experience but i don't have that experience cause when i was on open work permit i did odd jobs and self employed work to make more money but that was a huge mistake but i have worked as a painter but i got paid in cash or may be couple of cheques .But we had a construction company back home where i have worked as a carpenter or painter and doing small jobs with my dad as a builder we have big firm dont we have so many employees working in that company . But when i came to canada i did not mention prior coming coming to canada the question is can i use my self employed experience working in canada and back home experience to apply for this opportunity if yeah then can i get my work permit ?

You can try to apply for a closed work permit if the LMIA job offer is valid. Processing is over 3 months but it may be declined for your lack of experience. I find it hard that there is a painting company that has a positive LMIA.

Ok thanks , But what about my wife she came here in Canada for study and couldn’t complete it after that our visa was expired so we applied for visitor visa can we get again study permit for my wife ?

So you aren’t working now and both on visitor status? She can find a program and apply. She still needs to show the funds (pay tuition, $10,000k in funds) that she can afford her studies and how her studies help her career in her home country. Because she dropped out, this will be considered. Also if you are both visitors, she is not eligible for inland processing.

Are you sure this employer already has an LMIA. There are a log of scsms and peope asking foreigners yo pay for jobs. If you didn't mention your previous construction experience you will be highlighting that you misrepresented your work history on your OWP application and admitting you worked illegally in Canada woukd also not be suggested. When your wife attempts to get a new study permit she needs to address ehy she wasn't successful and what will change.

seems a bit strange getting a LMIA for a painting job. Surely there are Canadian workers who can paint?

thanks for all the replies
Should i apply for my wife's study permit and how much chances are there to get positive results and i was holding an open work permit before so i was legally working only problem was that i have only worked as a sub contractor i have another options such as a carpenter and the lima is legit its from the same company that i have worked before so if I am thinking to apply study permit for my wife and carpenter lima for my self cause i have heard from the guy that he got approved for carpenter job he had only 2 years of experience so i am going to take a chance should apply for both of us

Based on your previous posts you weren’t declaring your cash income which is the big issue. It doesn’t matter if you were legally able to work, not declaring your cash income and paying taxes is also illegal. It is impossible to say whether your wife will get approved for another study permit. It will partially depend on how well she was doing in her studies and why she stopped studying plus whether her studies make sense based on her previous education and work history. You should also show how you’ve been supporting yourselves as visitors so there are no concerns that you have been working illegally during this time.

I find it very strange that this company has approved LMIA for all these different jobs. The economy has changed a lot so WP approval really depends on the unemployment rate and economy in the region and province. Whether you are a licensed carpenter may also make a difference. All you can do is apply and hope for the best.
