I have another query to you and belated thank you for the response day before yesterday. I applied for Inland Spouse PR (June 1 ) got AOR 1 & 2 already (June 22nd and 23rd). Now I did not apply for OWP cause I will anyway be a student up to coming June (PhD) after which I will be eligible for Post grad work permit (unless I become PR by then). Now, I was worried if by any chance I get a job before I get my PGP and I needed to start early, I will have no work permit to start work with. Also, I am not sure if they will extend the OWP program until next year. Now, Having said all that, do you think I should apply for OWP? One thing is money and other than that, If it comes to graduation time can I also apply for PGP while having OWP? Because if anything wrong happens to the application, I will need a status and PGP will give me that status for next couple of years.

Thanks in advance for your patience in reading and replying :)

Why did you submit an Inland application if you didn't want to include the OWP? This is usually the ONLY reason for someone (even someone that is IN Canada) to apply Inland.

If you submit the OWP now, it will take ~ 4 months to receive. The total cost is $255

With proof of an Inland application submitted, the OWP is all but automatic; no reason to worry about it being refused (as long as you've properly completed the form(s) and paid the correct amount).

Hi Ponga,

Thanks for your response. I applied in Canada because I am inside Canada as you said. I am in PhD program so will get a Post grad work permit [PGP] (open as well) at the end (that is coming June). I was wondering if I hold an OWP can I still apply for PGP? The matter of refusal came if by any chance the application gets refused (So far it has not) the OWP automatically gets cancelled I suppose. I asked about these because if I get a job before my PGP is issued and I have to join, do you think having an OWP will be handy? And can I apply for a PGP while holding an OWP?

BTW can somebody apply outland if he is inland with a full time research and study?

Thanks

Well...if you're already slated for a PGWP next June., there's really no reason to submit an OWP now.

Also...if by some miracle your Inland application is approved by then, you wouldn't even need the PGWP.

To answer your last question...YES! A person can apply Outland (even a student, as long as they're eligible for spousal sponsorship) from within Canada. Too bad it's not really crystal clear when reading through the Inland guide.
