Hi there, we got married in March 2017, but we took some time to apply, my husband (principal applicant) has been travelling back and forth from Mumbai to stay with me in Canada with visitor visa.

With COVID on rise in India, we applied, for inland + OWP, however his Visitor Visa 6 months ended on Aug 5th 2020, and application was received on Aug 10th, 2020.

All of PR application is signed dated July 2020 (which is when we originally filled the documents to apply outland), his OWP application is dated Aug 1st, as we were awaiting some documents to add to the package, and deciding in/out application, hence July/Aug dates on applications.

It was a last minute change to go In-land because of COVID-19 and seeing cases on the rise in India, we decided to apply inland and apply for OWP.

Are we OK? Do we need to submit visitor restoration? I see the applications are running almost 200+ days behind since date received at Mississauga office.

You should apply for a visitor extension in case your application gets returned for missing information. Then you would lose your implied status.

Hi - thank you for your reply. I called CIC to find out how it would affect, and they said the OWP would be held until a state in PR application has been reached, they they could approve. When I asked about processing time for restoration, they said they have none.

And if they do not extend/restore status, they would order my spouse to leave Canada.

That would also jeopardize the inland application ( i think). What's the best way to go about solving this issue? We genuinely had a last minute change of plans to apply inland due to COVID issues around the world.
