Hi,

Need help with regard to Open Work Permit extension.

My spouse is an Intra-company transferee from India and I hold a OWP which is valid till Nov 2013. Both of us are under NOC A category. I am currently working full time on my OWP.

Below are my queries:

• Is my OWP dependant on my spouse's WP? As I hold a full time job, can I independently request for OWP extension without my wife getting an WP extension? We are not sure if my spouse's employer will extend her visa or not.
• If my spouse does not get an WP extended by her employer, can she apply a WP as my dependent?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

1. Your work permit is dependent on your spouse Work permit.
2. If you do not get an extension on work permit, your spouse cannot apply for your Open work permit.

The only possible way I can think of is to convert your OWP into Employer based work permit and then apply your spouse OWP as your dependent.
