Hello,

I am applying for common law sponsorship of my wife from Mexico. She has a valid visitor visa and has been living in Canada for over a year with me, legally through extended visitor records.

We are preparing our application and would like some more information about the open work permit. Do we submit it at the same time, or do we have to wait until the preliminary approval stage to submit the change of status form?

Also, the OWP or change of status form says it goes to Vegreville, and the main application goes to Mississauga. Is this still the case with the Vegreville facility being shut down, or should the OWP form be sent with the main application to Mississauga?

Also, are there any other tips for a successful application? We will have 4 statutory declarations from my family, about 5 dozen pictures spanning 4 years and 2 countries from our vacations/travels together, joint bank account and credit card documents, life insurance showing she is the beneficiary and email/chat records for a good portion of time since we met in 2013. Is there anything else helpful to add?

Thanks in advance!

You submit it at the same time. The Vegreville address is only for those submitting the work permit application alone (for instance, if someone were to submit it a few months after they submit their PR application).

This whole forum is a good source of tips. There is a Mexico thread on here somewhere, take a look at that.
