I have a situation as follows:-
1. I just left Canada in January 2019 for Kuala Lumpur to renew my Malaysian passport, the new renewal date is Jan 2024.
2. My current study permit is valid until end of March 2019.
3. I have submitted my work permit application in January 2019 and it is in processing stage.
4. I purchased an air ticket to fly back to Toronto for graduation and start work once I get my work permit approval.
5. However while transiting in Tokyo, I realized My Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) has expired in August 2017.
6. So I have to purchase another ticket to fly back from Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur today to apply for a new TRV.
So here's my question...
a. How likely would I get an approval for a new TRV as it has expired August 2017?
b. Is there any steps I could take to decease my chances of a refusal on a new TRV?
For example... a letter of explanation detailing my situation perhaps?
c. If my TRV application is refused, would I be ban from re-entering Canada? If so, for how long and would there be any lawful punishment such as jail time or a fine?
At the end of the day, I'm just a recent international graduate student who is trying to get back to Canada to seek employment in hopes of building a better future for myself and support my family. My intentions are never to overstay but simply a matter of oversight.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for reading.
