- I am a Chilean citizen. I had a work permit (closed wp IEC Young Professional) valid for one year from July 2023 to July 2024. When my permit was about to expire, 10 days before it expired, and together with my lawyer, I submitted an extension request through LMIA, solely with the strategic intention of gaining a little more legal time within the country with maintained status, knowing that this application would eventually be rejected.
- On November 21st, I received the rejection letter notifying me that as of that same day, I was no longer in legal status and due that i had to leave Canada immediately or within the next 90 days I had the right to apply to restore status.
- I did not apply to restore my status, and I was left without status for a total of 40 days due to preparing all my personal things, such as purchasing flight tickets and leaving my apartment (I was able to leave the country without any problems on December 31, 2024).

**I currently have my ETA approved, and I intend to return to Montreal in June 2025 to visit my girlfriend, a temporary Filipino resident, just for three weeks.
I would like to know how risky it might be to try to re-enter as a visitor, and if anyone has been through the same situation.
