hi guys, i am going to apply cec with noc 1241 admin assistant, however i have a master degree. my salary is about 16.5 per hour, plus commission, roughly 200 per month. My friend told me officer may think i am overqualified for admin assistant job because the master degree, then officer would doubt the genuineness of my job.... :( :( :(. can someone share his knowledge about this?

their eligibility criteria clearly talks about the job irrespective of the level u studied or even the field you studied is irrelevant as long as you had paid 1 year experience

Shouldn't be an issue. Rather than worrying about this, make sure you're able to provide all the things listed on the checklist when you are ready to apply.

Yeah, that might actually be a problem, while type/level of degree is not a concern. Do you fit under this?

yea they are, under Skilled Level B

Admin Assistants are "skilled" but some applicants have been refused because the job description overlaps with unskilled positions (e.g. office clerk).

On the other hand, I've never heard of an Admin Assistant who is paid a commission, that sounds like a sales job. Is that really the correct NOC?

Yes they are skilled for sure. Admin assistants and office admins perform almost the same duty.
But the officers have sometimes rejected the application saying admin duties r too generic. But keep ur fingers crossed and u might come out of it.
And u being over qualified isn't a problem. CIC knows very well that foreign workers irrespective of all their masters degree are forced to start from scratch and take up odd jobs in Canada.
So ur good to go 8)

As per CEC rules, the work need not have to be associated with your education. Any skilled 0, A or B for 1 year (full time) is enough to be eligible.

Make sure your job falls under skilled and get the letter according to the CEC requirements including your duties and title to prove that you have a skilled job.
