hi im just confuse of my case now i dont know if im still dependent of my mother i was 21 when my my mother mailed the papers but we dont know if it was already received because theres no update about it after mailing it.now im turning 22 by next month and in my status im still single and no work since i graduated. My question is am i still consider or do i still have a chance to be sponsored by my mother as a dependent? DO i need to study again?

its really a big tHAnks if someone wil reply bout my scenario

I think you will be ok, someone correct me if Im wrong, but I believe its the age you are at the time of the application that counts, Obviously some dependent children would have birthdays that take them to 22, but I think its "locked in" at the time of the application. I have a daughter that is 21 (22 Christmas day) so if we had her on the application and it went past her birthday, i cant see any sense in them refusing her.

Unfortunatly, my daughter doesnt want to come anyway, and isnt classed as a dependent now as she has been in a common law relationship for nearly 3 years and has a 19 month old daughter.

I really wouldnt worry, Im sure someone will be posting soon to give there more experienced advice. :)

It's the age you are when the application is received that counts. That age is 'locked in', which means the visa officer processing the application treats you as if you were that age for the whole processing period. So if you are 21 when they get the application, you will be considered a dependent - except you cannot get married or live common law during the processing, or you will lose your dependent status.
Since you are under 22 when the application was received, you do not need to keep studying.

However, I would make sure to verify somehow that the application was received.

thank you for the reply..but still im worry.. how would we know if they already got or received our papers? what my mother received after she mailed it was a receipt (tracking number???)..sorry i dont know much..

The only thing you can do at this point is sit and wait, as they do not contact you until the sponsorship approval is over. Get your mom to check the website of the courier they used, and put in the tracking number, that should tell you if it was delivered to Mississauga. If they did receive it then you shouldnt have anything to worry about as you are 21 at the time of the application being put in. Unfortunatly, other than that there isnt anyway of checking to see if it got there.
