Hello!

I was wondering if someone could help me out / let me know the next moves...

I am Canadian / EU citizen and have been living in Germany for 4 years now. In that time, I got married to a German, but in Toronto. So our marriage is registered already in Canada and now, we are now considering moving back to Toronto to be with family.

I would be my husbands sponsor - Im self-employed and own a Music School here in Germany. However from my understanding, we can apply as "outland" yet I have to show I can financially support him - which will be difficult to prove considering we would be moving there with no job lined up / need to find something. Of course housing and such is provided by our family for the beginning.. so the idea is to move there, be with the family, and my husband finds a job while I set up the Music School again in Toronto.

Question is: How long does this take? Can we do it from outside Canada as I don't want to be in Toronto for months while he is here. How do I prove we can financially support this move and if we can't prove it, are our chances limited? Can he actually be denied access to Canada being my spouse and able to work?

Thank You so much for your help!

Hi

There are many ways to show financial support. You can show family support, savings, investments, current income, income potential, a solid plan on how you will support yourselves etc. It sounds like you should have no issues.

I believe Vienna is around 8 months but you should check the Vienna thread to get an idea of current timelines.

Yes, you can apply outland. You will need to prove that you will be returning to Canada.

As above.

Anyone can be denied. That said, you should have no issues.

In the document checklist, it says they will need employment certificates and paystubs for the sponsor's current occupation. If the sponsor can not provide those because he has no job yet in Canada, would a letter explaining the absence of such documents suffice??

If the sponsor is unemployed, then yes, include a letter of explanation.
