Hi everyone,

My wife is Japanese, I am her Canadian sponsor - We applied in mid-October as Outland and received a confirmation and Application number on November 15, 2019.

She's a nurse in Japan and would like to be a nurse in Canada. We've done some research and she will to take some classes at York University in order to integrate with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

She wants to get a head start and begin studying in Canada during our PR process. I'm concerned that this could jeopardize our pending application and she's frustrated that her life is on hold. Her condo rental agreement and work contract are both scheduled to end in February which is supporting her idea to start her studies after in Canada.

My question is, Can my wife apply for a student visa while the outland PR process is underway? Does anyone have a similar experience and could perhaps share how they dealt with it?

All the best :)

Yes - she can apply for a study visa.

Her applying for a study permit will not jeopardize the PR app in any way.
