We received my husbands email asking for passport pics and photocopy of passport. He is a US citizen. Now can he land with his COPR, go through the process and then head back to the states a couple of days later? Does he tell the officer his intent to return to the states? Obviously he won't have his belongings with him at that time as he will be flying. He has a lease to fulfill and would like to find a job in Canada first before moving here so we have 2 steady incomes. Anyone have any experience with this and what did you tell them at the Border? Do we fill out a B4 as goods to follow?

You don't need to tell them anything. Yes fill out the goods to follow if you have goods to follow. You can bring them later.

Thanks for your reply! :)

As Aquakitty said, this is perfectly normal. I also plan to do a 'soft landing' to activate our PR card then return to sell up and bring the goods to follow on a later trip.

There is a useful article on it here:

Note that you will need a Canadian address to have the PR card sent to. You can use that of a friend or relative and get them, to send it on to you. Will take about 45 - 60 days to process.
