My boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for over two years, and we will be getting married in late August 2019. I am currently living in San Diego, California while he has been residing in Vancouver, British Columbia. We will be submitting an application for spousal sponsorship under the Family Class shortly after our wedding. We have been doing our research on the process and applications, but we still have a few questions.
As mentioned, we are planning to apply for the outland family class spousal sponsorship. Are there any tips or guides you can give us that will make the process go smoothly and better our chance for approval?
I am currently employed by the company his parents own here in San Diego and live with his mother, would that have any effect on our application? Positive or negative?
We understand that the current processing time for this application is 12 months, but we want to know if we will need to wait until the application is approved for me to travel or move to Canada?
Will I be able to apply for an open work permit that will allow me to stay and work in Canada during the processing period?
Once my application is approved how soon will I be able to move and work in Canada with my new Permanent Resident status, if I am unable to obtain a separate work permit?
