Greetings.

I am currently working on my papers for a common-law outland application. While I currently live with my partner in Canada, I was told outland was much better to get things done quickly (especially concerning healthcare).
I am however pretty confused on what I need to put as my "present address": do I need to give my original address (aka. from France), or the one I actually live at, which is in Canada?

Use the address in Canada.

I agree that it's very confusing for a person that is presently IN Canada to complete an Outland application, especially for those that are `visiting' their spouse/partner IN Canada, when asked where THEY `live'.

You just need to maintain your legal status throughout the process.

That I know, I have to fill my visa extention by the end of October.

Thank you for your very fast answer! While I'm at it, the Dependant section of the General Application asks me to list all my family members, even if they don't follow me in Canada. How extensive do I have to be on the matter? Do I really have to list them all? No one's planning to join me.

the dependant section is for those who are your dependants and are included in the application seeking PR status. For spousal sponsorship, that primarily means children who are not canadian citizens/prs already. you can just write N/A on the dependent section of the application form if you don't have dependents. most of the forms are generic applications forms used for ALL streams of immigration, so some of the information is not going to be relevant to you and that is ok.

You do have to include your family members' information (parents, siblings, etc.) on the additional family information form.

For application purposes, your sponsor spouse is not considered a "family member" or "spouse", they are considered only your "sponsor". if you are the only applicant seeking PR, only YOU fill out the applicant forms.

The Additional Family form (IMM5406) is very confusing for some, perhaps even most, applicants.

Some people list their sponsor as their spouse (if they are their spouse), while others do not. IMO, there's no harm in showing the sponsor on this particular form.

'Family members' for immigration means your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, and any dependent children. It does not include other relatives. So unless you have children, no one is listed in the dependent section of the general application.
The sponsor, even though he or she is your spouse or partner, does not fill out the immigrant forms, even if they say the spouse should do so. He or she fills out the sponsor forms.
However, wherever the forms specifically ask for your parents' names, of course give them. In addition, the Additional Family Information form does want you to list your spouse or partner, all children, your parents, and all siblings.
