Hi,

I have asked this question before but thought it prudent to double check. We have applied for me to be sponsored as common law spouse. We have however left the country of residence which we mentioned in the documentation and I am currently visiting in Canada. I am a South African citizen and the application is currently in Pretoria, we have received 1st stage approval and also received 2nd stage AOR from Pretoria.

I would like to change my address and i am wondering what the best option is. Do i use a South African address based on me being a citizen or should i use the Canadian address where i am currently visiting? My spouse is now working in Canada and i plan on visiting until i receive PR.

Thank you,

It's absolutely OK to provide them with a Canadian address.

if you plan to stay where you are as a visitor, then it might be best to change your address to where you are. especially since you are from SA, i'm sure the distance can cause major delays. if you were going to be traveling back and forth and use both addresses, i would recommend the opposite.

We're from a different VO, so things could be different BUT, we received EVERY communication from CIC by email. So for us, our address on file was irrelevant.

Thanks for the replies, I'll change the address to Canada.
