Hey all;

New to the forum, kinda. I've been following it a bit trying to get information for the last few months. Im marrying my american Fiance in June, and we want to submit as soon as we can after that. I have spoken to a couple immigration lawyers, but from what I have read on here it is really an unnessessary expense on top of everything else.

So what is the recommendation? Lawyer or no Lawyer? Our case is pretty straight forwards as far as I can see. No criminal anything etc. Now he was denied entry in February due to him not having enough ties to his home country, he was coming for a funeral at the time. We have ordered his file 30 days ago through access to information, so it should be provided any day now.

For family letters to prove relationship is genuine, what is the typical format for this? Is there a formal way of them writing these? Or just from their perspective as if they were writing to a family member or friend etc?

Should we fill everything out on the computer, or is by hand acceptable? Not everything fits if we use the computer method.

I am sure we have more questions, we are preparing everything we need now, so everything should be ready by the time we can file.

Thanks!

Just fill the forms and submit the documents as requested in the checklist if you are sure you have a straight forward and genuine marriage.......
https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm5533e.pdf

The forms should be filled, validated and signed hand written.......

There is no IRCC standard format for family letters to support your application.......i guess there could be previous samples posted on this site.

Thanks.
Another thing. A lot of our conversations were in Discord chat program either voice or PM, or in actual channels that neither of us are a part of anymore... Do we use these chats? It doesn't have our real names on the logs. We have been in contact since February 2017, and started dating online in October, but we only started using Skype in October.

You Proof of Contact could include letters, printed text messages, emails or social media conversations, or other documented proof of
contact between you and your sponsor........

You should include any Nickname/Alias you have used in IMM 0008.......Principal Applicant’s Personal Details......Question 2

Okay, another question. What is the best format to put the whole packet together? Everything as it's own seperate entity in different envelopes? Paperclipped and cover lettered each section in one envelope? Is there a thread somewhere that has examples of how people put their packs together? Thanks!

There is no standard format.....just keep related document together......put the forms and supporting documents in an envelope and mail, preferably through registered courier so you have a tracking number for reference.

Put it in order of the checklist. Do not put everything in different envelopes; the more envelopes you have, the more annoyed someone will get having to take it all out and put it together. Cover letters are not necessary.
