Hello,

I am currently out of status in Canada after my PG open work permit as of this Friday. I have 90 days for restoration.

I am considering all the options. I am not sure which one is the best.
1. Take a course in Jan'17 and apply for study permit which will help me work as well as stay in Canada till my course starts. Not sure if I will get a study permit from Jan'17 or before since I am already here.
2. Marry my Canadian girlfriend. We have been dating for 10 months. Marrying her without consent from her parents.

I am inclined to take the 1st option but still am considering the second one.

I am not sure what are the pros and cons for both the options. Please help!!!!!

1. You will need to apply to restore your status to visitor - otherwise applying for a student permit won't work out. Note that you won't be able to start working again until you begin classes in January. Also, you won't qualify for another PGWP.
2. Marrying your Canadian girlfriend won't instantly give you status in Canada. You'll see be out of status.

Thank you for your reply. I just have a few follow up questions?

1. Will I be able to apply for study permit directly i.e. instead of getting visitor will i get study permit. Also, i do know i wont get another PGWP but will work something out before that.
2. Would you recommend marry my GF after i restore my status?

1. If you are accepted to an educational institution, you can apply to restore your status as a student. However, even if you are approved, this will NOT allow you to work before starting school.

2. Whether you marry your girlfriend or not is entirely your personal decision.

I have an offer letter from a college and have applied restoration of status to study permit.

My program will start in Jan'17. Can I start working as soon as I get the study permit say by end of October?

This question was already answered twice previously. No - you cannot start working as soon as you get the study permit. You cannot start working again until your classes start in January.
