Hi there,

My husband and I submitted our outland application (he is Canadian, myself American) 3 months ago to date. We have received sponsorship approval and on the website it shows our application is in progress. I guess I've just been hearing through the grapevine that processing time is going fast then the noted 14 months noted on the CIC website. Has anyone heard otherwise as well? Basically I've heard 8-10 months total time? Reason I ask is that I am on the fence about going back to the states to work. I'd like to hear a few others personal experiences so I don't jump the gun on heading back "home" to work just to veer back "home" here!

Thanks so much! :D

Hi,
14 months is when the majority of cases get processed by. But as others have often said, if you have a straightforward case (no red flags) and send in a COMPLETE application AND paid all fees up front, it can come much faster. For example, many of the people who are being sponsored from the US and mailed in their application in January have already had gotten their COPR (basically the letter in the mail that you use to become a PR). This includes my wife too. That is ~7 months. I'd say 6-7 months is the best case scenario. Not everyone is in this boat however. Some have just been unlucky and have waited longer. Others had some other complications (red flags, missing documents, etc). I'd say 8 months is reasonable to expect. 10 months is a little on the long side.

Good luck!

We were accepted in 7 months. There's really no way to tell.
